Reddit looks for account transfers. New device, new IP, sudden password change, then a link dump is the classic burn. This is the sequence that wastes fewer listings. It is not a guarantee the account stays up — nothing is.
Buy from the accounts page. You get the username, password, and email details after checkout. Usernames stay hidden on the listing on purpose.
Verify before you log in
- 1
Open the public profile
Visit old.reddit.com/user/USERNAME in a browser that is not logged into Reddit. If the profile loads with history, karma, and age, the account is still live.
- 2
Stop if it is suspended
Do not try the password. Contact support with the listing. Once you have logged in, we cannot treat it as undelivered.
- 3
Only then sign in
One account per browser profile. Chrome for one, Firefox for another. The iOS/Android app links whatever is logged in together — reinstall before a new account, or do not use the app.
Network and browser
If you run fewer than a handful of accounts, use home Wi-Fi or mobile data. Reddit is harsher on proxies than people expect.
- No consumer VPN. Those IP ranges are well known.
- No rotating residential proxy that changes mid-session.
- Clear Reddit cookies before the first login on that browser.
- Do not stay logged into two accounts in one browser or one app.
If you manage many accounts, isolate each one in its own browser profile. A sticky residential IP per account is the grown-up version. Cheap rotating proxies are how people lose five listings in a day.
2FA
Some listings include a 2FA secret. Reddit will ask for a six-digit code. Paste the secret into any standard TOTP app (the same kind you use for email). Use the current code immediately — it rotates every 30 seconds. Do not screenshot the secret into a chat and leave it there.
Warmup
| When | Do | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1–3 | Browse, join subs, vote | Post, comment, change password, change email |
| Days 4–7 | A few comments, no links | Self-promo, the same comment twice |
| After a week | Posts, then links, then password/email | A sudden personality transplant into one product |
If the listing is low karma, start in rooms that do not gate. If it already clears the threshold, you still need the browsing days. AutoMod cares about age; spam filters care about a dead account that woke up shouting.
Mistakes that burn the listing
- Password change on first login from a new device.
- Link in the first comment.
- VPN “just this once.”
- Same phone app, two accounts, still logged in.
- Posting the same promo the previous owner would never have posted.
Need karma on an account you already use instead? Buy votes on your own content, do not transfer a stranger’s username onto a campaign it will not survive.
Questions
Should I change the password right after buying a Reddit account?
Wait several days. A login from a new device plus an immediate password and email change is a common trigger. Browse first, then comment, then move recovery details once the account looks like itself again.
Can I use a VPN with a purchased Reddit account?
Do not. Datacenter and popular VPN ranges are easy for Reddit to flag. A normal home or mobile connection is safer than a cheap proxy.
How long should I warm up a purchased Reddit account?
Plan on 3–4 days of browsing and voting with no posts, then comments without links, then posts. A week is better if you can spare it. There is no warmup that makes an account unsuspendable.
