Why the first two hours matter
Hot is a velocity sort. Votes that arrive after the post is stale do not rewind the clock. Posting into an empty room means your first hour is wasted on people who are asleep. That is the whole timing problem.

Wednesday morning is a cliché because it is true for a lot of English-language default rooms. It is a bad default for a subreddit whose mods and readers live in Europe. Check.
What to do with the window
- Have the title finished before you hit the hour. Do not draft in New.
- Sit on the thread for 30–60 minutes and reply.
- Do not cross-post the identical title to three subs in ten minutes.
- Do not delete and repost the same thing two hours later.
